The foundation of wheel-throwing will be taught during this 6-week ceramics course (one 2.5 hour class per week). Students will be taught at the start how to throw a cylinder form, after which they will work on other forms such as bowls and cups, turn/trim the bases of pieces, and apply glazing techniques using in-studio Ves glazes.
After 6 weeks, students will have their own glazed pots and bowls fired and may be collected within 1 month after the 6th week. This course is ideal for beginners with little or no experience at all.
The cost of this course includes usage of clay up to 7 pieces, use of wheel and equipment, materials for decorating and glazing, and firing. Basic tools (for you to keep!) and extra pieces made will be under separate costs. This course holds a capacity of 8 students to provide close individual guidance.
Weeks 1–5:
Cylinder forms—the core fundamental before any other forms in wheel-throwing. After that, students progress to U-form and V-form bowls, S-form-pitchers, then joining handles. Instructors will guide students according to their different abilities and speed of progression.
Week 6:
Basic glazing techniques.
*Recommended for participants at least 13 years old
