FAQs

Can anyone sign up as a VCC member?

As our studio operates on an independent, self-directed basis, we welcome members who already have a solid foundation in pottery. VCC membership is best suited for those confident in working without guided instruction.

Priority will be given to students who have previously completed our courses at Ves. Please note that membership applications are assessed based on your pottery experience and understanding.

How do I access the studio?

Each VCC Member will receive a unique access code for independent entry

Important:
Access codes are unique to VCC Members only. Please do not share access codes with others. Entry is for single VCC Members only, no companions allowed. Any misuse is a violation and will result in an immediate ban and a report to the authorities.

Privileges

How long can I stay in the studio?

For as long as you wish. All VCC Members enjoy full access during studio hours, with complete freedom to work at their own pace.

Our studio houses 10 SHIMPO pottery wheels and accommodates only 10 VCC Members at a time — ensuring that your wheel is always ready for you, with no double bookings or waiting. The space is fully air-conditioned, complemented by high-performance wall fans and high grade air purifiers to keep the environment cool, clean, and comfortably ventilated.

Do you provide storage?

All VCC Members will be provided with:

  • Personal storage boxes for tools and clay
  • Designated storage space
  • Members only private shelf space for personal projects and works in progress
  • Personal plasterboards for reclaiming clay

Do you provide clay?

We have a selection of clay bodies for sale at $25/10kg and $15/5kg.

Do you provide tools?

We have most tools and equipment required in a pottery studio, free to use for all VCC members. We seek your assistance that they be returned to its designated locations after usage.

Firing

What are the firing procedures?

For firing, we have 2 options based on volumetric sizes to be filled with completed works:

  1. M basket - $90 (H12 x 34 x 27)
  2. L basket - $130 (H17 x 44 x 31)

Includes bisquit firing, a selection of studio made cone 8 glazes and glaze firing.

What are the firing schedules?

We keep ensuring the kiln is at least 3/4 filled for firing and we light the kiln up once every 2-3 weeks for both bisquit and glaze firing.

What happens with a firing mishap?

Respectfully, all completed pieces should be checked thoroughly by VCC Members before firing. We will always check for signs during kiln pre-loading but Ves will not take any responsibility for cracks, explosions or glaze mishaps.

Important:
Members with works causing kiln disruption will be cautioned and subsequently banned if continued kiln disruption persists.

Cleanliness

How often is the studio cleaned?

The studio is mopped clean with all common surfaces wiped down and all rags washed and hung dry at the end of every day. Rags are replaced every 4-6 months. The studio undergoes a general deep clean every 3 months and a complete year end refresh before the start of the new year.

2 high grade true HEPA filter air purifiers clear the air of contaminants every day.

What are the guidelines for studio cleanliness?

As cleanliness is much appreciated, after your session:

  • Do remove all clay scraps from the sink to be deposited in the designated clay tray
  • Mop affected areas with fresh clean water (avoid using dirty water)
  • Thoroughly clean personally used tools, containers, trays, wheels and wooden boards
  • Reclaim your clay on your personal plaster board
  • Dispose of personal rubbish thoughtfully

Can I use communal aprons?

For hygiene reasons, we ask that all members bring their own apron. Communal aprons are not provided, though Ves aprons are available for purchase upon request

General

What are the procedures for making a purchase?

Kindly advise your interest in purchasing clay, apron, tools, etc in advance through email or during studio hours and we will have the items prepared for you.

Payment is through Paynow.

Where can I park?

Parking on site is not available. Public parking is available along the streets in Chip Bee

What is the Ves Gallery? (Coming 2026)

We are building an online gallery for VCC Members only, to showcase their works with their own dedicated artist profile page on our Ves website.
